Everton Football College rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted
Everton Football College is celebrating after receiving an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
The college, which is attended by 178 students and has sites in Liverpool and Ellesmere Port, was described by inspectors as “exceptional”.
The college was given Ofsted’s top rating in every area of its report, including the quality of education offered, the behaviour and attitudes of students, and its leadership and management.
Inspectors noted that the College offers inspiration to learners, who "thrive" thanks to its sports-focused curriculum and delivery.
Recent Ofsted figures show that only 16 per cent of schools in the UK have an ‘outstanding’ rating.
Everton Football College was established in 2018 and provides students aged 16-19 with educational pathways and enrichment opportunities to help prepare them for work, university or scholarships.
In October 2023, the Football College saw its Under-17s boys’ team and an open age girls’ team crowned champions at the World Schools Football Cup held in Barcelona.
Students have also benefitted from educational excursions to Dallas, where they participated in the prestigious Dallas Cup, New York and Chile.
The Ofsted report, published May 2024, noted: “Pupils, and students in the sixth form attend an exceptional school.
“The school provides an inspirational offer that enables pupils to excel".
“Over time, pupils mirror the football club’s motto, ‘Nil Satis Nisi Optimum’ [nothing but the best is good enough]. They demonstrate this clearly in their excellent academic, personal and social development.”
Everton Football College Head Maxine Spooner said: “As a college, we are incredibly proud to have received this recognition from Ofsted, which is a fantastic reflection on our staff but also our wonderful and hard-working students.
“This report, along with our outstanding academic results in recent years, illustrates not only the quality of education we offer but how our students are inspired by the opportunity to learn through their love of sport and football.
"I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone who has contributed to us receiving this ‘outstanding’ rating.”
