Enrichment Qualifications: Enhance Your Skills And Opportunities
At Everton Football College, we recognise that additional qualifications can open doors whether for UCAS applications, scholarships, or future employment. Our enrichment qualifications provide students with the chance to develop new skills, gain recognised certifications, and stand out in their chosen pathways.
Optional Qualifications and Awards
Students have the opportunity to undertake a range of optional qualifications to complement their studies and enhance their CVs:
- FA Qualifications: Gain coaching and leadership credentials through initiatives from the Football Association.
- Leader Awards: Develop leadership, teamwork, and organisational skills through practical, recognised awards.
- Other Relevant Courses: We actively encourage students to pursue qualifications from sporting organisations and other recognised providers to broaden their experience and expertise.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Many students also choose to pursue the Duke of Edinburgh Award alongside their academic and sporting programme. The college has an excellent relationship with the organisation, supporting students to:
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Take on challenges and achieve extraordinary goals
- Enhance life experiences outside the classroom, developing skills that are highly valued by universities and employers
By engaging in enrichment qualifications, students not only develop their practical and leadership skills but also gain recognised awards that demonstrate initiative, dedication, and achievement. These experiences complement academic learning and football development, helping students stand out in their future studies and careers.

Developing Independent Learners
We actively encourage students to become independent learners. Academic and study workshops are embedded throughout the year within the PSHE and tutorial programme to equip students with the skills needed to complete assignments, prepare for exams, and take ownership of their learning.
Relationships, Health, and Life Skills
Our tutorial programme also incorporates Relationships & Health Education (RHE), promoting the fundamental values students need to thrive in a modern and diverse Great Britain. Key elements include:
Understanding and valuing community and diversity
Delivering essential life skills for independent adulthood
Partnering with external providers to enhance learning through workshops and presentations on topics such as:
- Online safety
- Relationships and mental health
- Health screening and nutrition
- Finance and personal wellbeing
Through our tutorial programme, students are not only supported academically but are also guided to become confident, well-rounded individuals, ready to take the next step in education, sport, or employment.
Reporting
Regular and rigorous assessment and monitoring of each student's progress is a key feature of our approach to supporting student progression. We give students and their parents/carers regular constructive feedback about progress and information on how they can improve their future learning, and the college uses an assessment database to record student progress and set challenging targets based on GCSE results. Students are also encouraged to become independent learners and are expected to monitor and evaluate their own progress against these grades.
Reports are available for students and parents/carers where appropriate twice a year. In addition to this, parents/carers and students are invited to discuss individual progress at a parents' review day either face to face or over the phone/teams. We use a college management system to monitor attendance and punctuality and assess progress using Firefly and SIMS.
