Financial Support: Helping You Stay in Education
At Everton Football College, we understand that financial barriers should never prevent students from pursuing their ambitions. The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund is designed to provide targeted support to those who need it most, ensuring every student has the opportunity to remain in education and make the most of their time at college.
There are two main bursary options available to students:
1. Vulnerable Student Bursaries
Students may qualify for this bursary if they meet one of the following criteria:
Young people in care or care leavers
Students receiving Income Support or Universal Credit
Disabled students receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payments (PIP), or Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
To qualify, students must be aged 16, 17, or 18 on 31st August prior to the academic year. Eligible students are entitled to a flat rate bursary of £1,200, with payment terms agreed individually with the Head of Football College.
Important: Students must provide official evidence confirming eligibility, such as a letter from the local authority or the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP). Self-certification is not accepted.
2. Discretionary Fund (Bursary)
The Discretionary Fund supports students with specific educational needs and is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility is based on household income:
Single student in household: annual income below £20,817
Multiple students in household: annual income below £23,077
Applications must include evidence of household income. Please note that eligibility for Free School Meals in Year 11 does not automatically qualify a student for this bursary.
Hardship Fund
If you do not meet the criteria for the Vulnerable Student Bursary or Discretionary Fund but are experiencing exceptional financial hardship, you can apply for support from the Hardship Fund. Applications must be submitted in writing to the Head of Football College and will be considered on an individual basis.
Conditions and Requirements
To receive bursary support, students must:
Complete a qualifying learning period of six weeks
Submit applications by the 1st October deadline (new students may apply on admission, subject to funding availability)
Maintain weekly attendance and punctuality of at least 95%
Demonstrate high standards of behaviour and submit work to the required level and deadlines
Everton Football College reserves the right to withdraw or suspend bursary support if these conditions are not met.
