Financial Support
The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome the specific financial barriers to participation and will target funds to help the students in greatest need so they can remain in education.
There are 2 different funds which are available to students, which are:
1. Vulnerable Student Bursaries
Students will qualify for this bursary if they fall into one of the following categories: young people in care, care leavers, young people in receipt of income support of universal credit or disabled young people in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payments (PIP) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA). The student must be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August before that academic year to qualify.
Where students fall into this category, they are entitled to a flat rate bursary of 1,200GBP of which the payment terms will be agreed on an individual basis with the Head of Football College and the student.
Students must provide official confirmation of their qualification for a Vulnerable Student Bursary, for example a letter from the local authority or a letter from the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) stating which benefit the young person is entitled to. Please note students cannot self-certify.
2. Discretionary Fund (known as a "bursary")
Everton Football College will operate a discretionary payment system for specific educational purposes. Eligibility will be determined via application and the following criteria:
- Where there is only one young person in the household aged 19 or under in full-time education and the annual total household income is below 20,817GBP.
- Where there is more than one young person in the household aged 19 or under in full-time education and the annual total household income is below 23,077GBP.
Evidence of household income must be submitted alongside the completed application form.
Free School Meals eligibility from Year 11 is not an automatic acceptance for a bursary.
If you do not meet the Vulnerable Student Bursary or Discretionary Fund requirements stated above but are facing financial hardship due to exceptional reason or circumstance change, you can apply to access the Hardship Fund on an individual basis by submitting an application in writing to the Head of Football College.
Qualifying Condition Requirements
Eligible students will need to complete a qualifying learning period of 6 weeks before they are able to receive Bursary support, however, applications should be submitted in full by the deadline of 1st October. New students to Everton Football College may submit an application on admission and approval will be subject to funding availability.
All students in receipt of a Bursary must meet weekly punctuality and attendance requirements of 95% to ensure continued support. In addition, students in receipt of a Bursary must have a high standard of behaviour and submit work of an appropriate level and to required deadlines. If a student does not meet these conditions, Everton Football College reserves the right to withdraw or suspend Bursary support.
