Everton Football College NYFL Champions
Wednesday was the final NYFL fixture for our North Central Championship side as our U17 and U18 Jericho based students played Chesterfield needing a point to secure the league title. After a nervy start, Chesterfield took the lead and went into half time ahead. The second half was a better reflection of the teams capabilities and on 60 minutes James Stevens put away the equaliser drawing the side level. The final 20 minutes was nervy but we were always in control as we saw out the game becoming NYFL Champions!
Coach of the NCC side Phil Oliver said “The way this team have worked over the 16 games made them worthy league winners, this has been a fantastic achievement for this group and caps off a very successful year. We had some very challenging fixtures away in Huddersfield, Sheffield United and Leeds not to mention against local competitors. To go all season having only lost one game is an absolute credit to the mentality and professionalism of this group of learners”.
